“Bribe the tribe, WHAT?” Hahaha!
This is not the bribe you think but the essence of letting people run the show, their way, living extreme freedom. Yes, we had defined SoP but the situation on ground demands real time awareness.
We hosted sessions by the beaches of Arabian Sea & Bay of Bengal, on the banks of a river & next to a lake, in the foothills of Himalayas & closer to international borders; in posh cafes of cities to forests of Chhattisgarh; we hosted sessions everywhere in this country. How? Embracing the value of our people!
This is seventh lesson from a post I wrote about my learnings from building Stories Worth Sharing. If you have not checked , I recommend you visit it once for the context 7 Things Stories Worth Sharing taught me!
The seventh lesson in this list?
Value your people!
I don’t want to put a long story here nor do I want to document some extraordinary event leading to sycophancy. A lot of times we, the people at SWS, did things for each other away from professional commitments. Spilling them out in public will charge on the sanctity of emotion which prompted us to take initiatives. The 3 words ‘value your people’ says it all despite being open to interpretation.
However, I will sure want to mention a small anecdote. When we first got an invite to give a TEDx speech, the first person I called to share that was our very first joinee. I remember her crying out of happiness for it felt like a big feet at an age of 21. We don’t talk anymore but this post reminded me of that episode. Fun times! :)
Building value for people shall further come from your essence of doing it for your happiness. If you chose to do it for ‘them’, know that you might be in for a disappointment. Thence, whatever you do for your people, do it because it makes you happy. Do it because it leaves you with a better feeling and allows you to sleep in peace later in the night. It is worth it! :)
Closing this 8 week long series with some fun pictures in this post.
