I have spent years living off my parents’ money even after college. God has been kind as things turned around now but the habits from broke days make me look smart helping earn credits I do not even deserve.
I was lunching with an old friend in Dehradun.
One such habit I have from old days is reading menu right to left. No, not the Arabic/Urdu but just the price first, item later. Hah!
Now, I had no idea wtf is Kombucha
But what is the point of going out if you do not make stupid mistakes. Yeah? NO!
This shit tasted like old wine that went stale and was washed again with help of microbes only to put it in a fancy bottle that resembles old days of Grandpa’s Phensadyl.
What does the bill read?
Now I do not mind paying extra if they serve the taste buds well. But hey! It sucked. And it is not about 50 extra but ethics.
I called for the waiter and he tells me ‘politely’ that menu has been updated.
Aw-ow! Bro, you don’t tell that to an engineer who just worst of his drinks.
End result? 10% off to balance the bill.
Stay vigil guys, there’s no shame in checking your bills. Live like you are in college and your momma still thinks you are doing drugs if you take anything more than ₹1/- as pocket money. It works!
