I saw these flex boards at prime location at Hauz Khas Interchange station in Delhi. Normal bumble ad, right? Right.
Why did I click it? Why is this image here?
Before I answer that, go back to school days. Let us go back by 10 years! I was in grade 11 in 2013. I was preparing for JEE and insomnia (asli waala XD) had best of me. Somehow, I managed to sleep one evening and while I did, my phone rang multiple times. (I was still new to concept of keeping it on mute but hah, it’s been 10 years since this episode, I have never unmuted phone! :P)
Nevertheless, the caller was a girl. Entire school thought we are dating (we weren’t and this story is for some other day)
The real story is, my mom was shocked at multiple calls from same girl (it was a group together trying to prank me but guess what?)
Mom picked it up and gave her a scolding of lifetime. (safe to say, maa thought we are dating, too!)
Now, back to original question: This image reminded me of that episode (and few others :P) How did we, as a society, get so comfortable with idea of dating that a prominent place in vicinity of the national capital is showing ads of a dating app?
Think honestly, even till 2013-14-15 (a decade ago), dating was still a ‘glamour industry’ thing. I don’t remember growing up in a culture where it was normalized. I remember everyone making sleazy jokes about ‘rare’ couples. I remember most of us avoiding even being remotely associated with a girl ‘cz for some reason, it was a taboo. (It is different thing that later stories confirmed that some people are really good applicants for the position of secret mission spies since they kept their status secret from entire school)
Am I dissing on dating?
Neah, bro. I find it a pleasant change to have younger people more choices. I also think it shall come with curated degree of responsibility. Baaki mazeyy karo yaar duniya me, hai nahi kuch zyada time khraab karne ko. Jiske saath mann lage, aage badho. Nahi lageyy toh bhi aage badho. Ram Ram! :P

Had lunch at a place in vicinity of Qutb Minar where I had the chance of inverting the minaret in my water (wine) glass. Explore this area, fun place!
