December 18; I was immersed in thoughts on post lunch walk when I realized I haven’t visited another city for leisure in over 2 years. I had been someone who was catching a flight every fortnight before lockdown.
In next 3 minutes, I had the details sorted in mind and next I know is I was standing here on eve of December 21! 👇
Just I walked to the opposite side, my curious eyes started scouting for the other places. Friends from military will call it recce! *wink*
Walking from Mahal towards the Badi Chaupar, I spotted something unusual. A grand door opens into another calm royal building which is now a school! A SCHOOL? RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE HAWA MAHAL? AM I DREAMING?
One enters the space to find a space unaware of the chaos outside. Hardly anyone in sight, to your right is a huge marble stone documenting history from 19th century. Not any random history but the names of the people who are no more existing on this planet.
But wait! Why are their names here? Their names are a testimony to the heritage of this building.
Why, you ask? These are names of the graduates from this college. The ones who left the planet but their names are a testimony to the history of this gorgeous building.
Suddenly, I spotted a school employ walking towards me. (I thought it is time to be thrown out, no cap!)
Instead, they asked me if there’s something I need help with. Further, the shared the ‘things to see’ here. (things to see, in a school?)
That’s right. Walk up the stairs to a grand temple. The one who constructed this building offered the space only on the condition that the temple stays. Just when I arrived with folded hands, it was time for aarti.
I left this place with a fresh mindset. I wonder if I showed up at aarti just in time or if it was deity who summoned me to be a part of his aarti just in time? I wonder!
