Around Diwali in 2020, I was pissed at myself for not being able to run even a small stretch of 250m without grasping for breath. I came back home, sat in my work table and even 2 hours later, I was still thinking about it. So much so that I was at a new low.
Desperate times call for desperate measures
I dialed up Pratyaksh. A friend from college whose story of losing 40+ kgs and building classic muscle. He was now running NoSupplements and helped many from our batch get in better shape.
Long story short, in less than a week, we were working together to fix my 97kg self!
In just 6 months, I lost 22 kgs in a sustainable manner. I did not just lose weight but also developed more stamina, better skin tone and the days of feeling tired were long behind.
And oh! I can now run multiple laps of the same 250m stretch (without even breathing heavy *wink*)
But how did I do it? More like, how did Pratyaksh help me do it?
Just 2 words: Calorie Deficit
Our body burns a particular number of calories by itself in performing basic functions. These are functions like respiration, digestion, circulation etc. This is called Basal Metabolic Rate in technical terms. It refers to the min number of calories one’s body needs to ‘exist’
For someone of my avg weight and height, BMR is around ~1800. Pratyaksh worked on a personalized nutrition plan for my body to eat 1800 calories and burn 2000. (1800 BMR + 200 over the top)
How to burn these 200 calories over the top without gym?
Simple answer: walk 10-12k steps everyday.
Idea is to ‘burn’ these 200 calories. There can be multiple ways to do it! Walk, cycle, gym etc. The easiest possible method? Daily walk!
Note: Weight training at gym is to help you build muscle, not lose weight
Everything about a sustainable lifestyle boils down to mobility. How active you stay in your day is the key! Modern lifestyle restricts movement to romance with the screen for long hours. Don’t fell in this trap, get moving TODAY!
