Ever since Instagram came up with short form of video content in name of Reels, it made some (un)pleasant amendments to its algorithm. In quest to keep the audience hooked onto the app, even the discover feed pushed video content.
This is where it tapped on a strong human emotion: LUST.
How does this happen? It is a loop!
1) Human lust for opposite gender (men towards women, in this case)
2) Content with Designer clothes putting a lot of skin on display prioritized
3) Higher engagement towards such creators
4) Serves as an inspiration for more such creators to flaunt the similar designer clothes
5) Loop continue
How is it harming you?
In short, it is a drug. At times through designer clothes putting skin on display and at others, motivation served as a drug. In both cases, it is hard to keep your urges in check with a stimulator as strong as (semi) nudity fed in overdose.
Lost focus
You pay with time! Opportunity cost leaves you devoid of investing same time somewhere else
No one cares if you are present or absent in this loop. Out of sight? Out of mind!
Leads to losing control on self where one finds self masturbating excessively
Mind corrupted, sexual muscles misfired
Top this with OnlyFans, IG opened a new revenue stream for modern day drug(s) of Loose Lust.
How to save yourself from modern day warfare led by Modern Corporations (like Meta) via apps like Instagram?
If it is not about your livelihood, quit Instagram. You’d be surprised to see how no one really misses you. It’d probably be months before someone in real life will ask you if you are off IG. (Told you, no one cares!)
If it is about your passion or a portfolio, play a little smart. You can now post via web and funnily, IG on web (both via phone and laptop/desktop) is a whole different game altogether.
Use this to your advantage. Use schedulers to schedule your content for a week at once and move out
For the stories, seek help. Pay someone a small fee with clear mandate to post stories and leave.
If you search for adult content on your browser, use browsers like DuckDuckGo. (No, going incognito or clearing history won’t keep you safe)
What after you quit Insta?
I left all social media (WhatsApp included) in 2019. I do have a work account to showcase my work which I use on browser (only to regulate, seldom do I interact) How did I break this addiction?
Kept 3 books at 3 places. One, next to my bed. One, on my study/work table. One, on table of my living room. Every morning, I started picking up a book for few minutes over phone (This is called replacement technique which psychologists recommend)
Started being more active physically. Lost 22kgs weight by going calorie deficit, built muscles by lifting weights, and meeting my people more in offline setups (Helped with improving social skills + it filled the emptiness of shallow IG chats/DM sliding with real world conversations)
Picked up diff hobbies and scheduled time for them on calendar. (Say, if I did not practice abacus for 20 mins today, I’d not go to sleep. This replaced desire to check phone/screen with a real time activity)
Save your life from Instagram or you’d die everyday, before death even meets you.
