You just turned 20 and achieved biggest milestone of your life.
No, I am not talking about graduation but a SUCCESSFUL Goa trip.
The one that does not exist ONLY on a WhatsApp group but the one where the same group has images of tickets of you and your friends who fly to Goa next week.
You pack all your beach clothes and rush to the airport. On the flight, you can’t sleep for all the raw youth that Goa exhumes.
As the flight takes off from, you are thinking of all the beaches where you will chill with Israelis and Russians. You are dreaming of hot and sexy people just when the pilot announces that you land in another 20 minutes.
You are excited. Your dream of a group GOA TRIP is finally happening. As you further think of anything else, the pilot tells you to keep your Passports and Visa handy as you deplane.
PASSPORT?????? VISAAAAAAAAA??????????? IN GOAAAAAA?????????
“Bhai Indians ko India me passport kyu chahihye?????????”
Surprised, YEAH? Calm yourself and read this 👇
If you were an Indian willing to go to Goa before 1961, this daydream narrated above would have been a reality. For roughly 15 years since Independence of India, Goa was not a part of Indian Union.
It was only after Indian forces liberated Goa from Portuguese rule in a secret operation code named Operation Vijay that we had this natural wonder as part of Indian territory.
While the Goan story is that of violence, Sikkim on the contrary was a peaceful acquire. A referendum happened flooding streets of Gangtok with people voting to be a part of India. The rule of Namgyal Dynasty ended and Sikkim was inducted as a new state in the Indian Union.
