TL;DR: Take virtual tour of the PM Museum here
It is a bright Sunday afternoon. You are walking down an aisle and suddenly find the Prime Minister of India waiting for you. You rub your eyes to assure yourself you are not in a dream and then run to acquire the chair next to him for the picture.
"Look in the camera, towards your light," comes a voice and *CLICK*
Next minute the picture is on your mail and whoa! You have an image with the PM of India. As you leave the spot, you come across another fanfare waiting in line to 'walk with the Prime Minister' in front of the Indian Parliament. On the screen outside, a commoner is walking with the Indian PM with Parliament in the backdrop.
But wait! The Prime Minister in the video is Indira Gandhi. Err...Indira Gandhi? The same Prime Minister who passed away more than 35 years ago? How is this possible?
You scratch your brain until the concepts of Augmented Reality hit your memory by the nerve cells. "OHHHH!" you exclaim!
This is what goes inside the newly inaugurated Pradhanmantri Sanghralaya. Located on the lush green lawns of Teen Murti Bhawan (the residence of India's First Prime Minister) the museum displays the new face of the Indian government.
If you ask me the blend of nature of the site with the cutting edge technology is what makes this museum unique. Here are some (of many) tech use cases I can recollect from my visit:
1. AR to get you a selfie (or a walk video) with any of the 14 Prime Ministers,
2. Robotics to get you a signed letter from any PM
3. Sound technology for the Audio tours
4. Visual stories for better insights into the lives of PMs
Not just tech but the use of art will further leave one astonished! For an instance, this portrait of Sh Lal Bahadur Shastriji is so designed that it will make sense only from this angle. If you see it from side, these are just beads hanging from the ceiling.
One thing I appreciate about the place is non-partisan approach. The individuals are given due respect as per their tenure, work and impact. No bias!
If you are a young person interested in learning about Indian journey through lives of the Indian Prime Ministers', this is a great place. Further, a good idea for a date, a group outing or a solo experience. If you have a family with young kids, I'll strongly recommend taking them out to visit this museum in New Delhi.
